Nintendo America confirmed Style Savvy: Styling Star will be released in North America much sooner than fans expected. It will be released on December 25th in North America and is the fourth installment in the Style Savvy series. Style Savvy fans will be happy as the previous game Fashion Forward took a long time to be released in North America. It will launch exclusively on the Nintendo eShop on December 25th and no release for a physical version of the game has been announced.
A demo of Style Savvy: Styling Star is available to download on the North American eShop and gives players a preview of what's in store in the latest installment of the game. Head over to the Style Boutique 3 Demo Overview if you would like to see what's included in the demo.
I'm so glad American players will be able to get the game soon! By the way, I just finished downloading Girls Mode. It looks pretty neat, if anyone has questions I can answer them until it comes out! ^^
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for it!! I heard you don't have to unlock colours now which is a relief.
DeleteI actually didn't get so far so I don't know about the colors, but it seems like you don't have to unlock them
DeleteThe new clothing items are amazing, and the customization dfhgddvs
I haven't played the demo because it somehow never came out in Japan so I don't know if it had it, but you can customize your shop like a Chalet room
On the official nintendo page for NA it says that you can customize your bedrooms again.
DeleteI'm happy they added that feature back in, I enjoyed decorating the apartment
DeleteYes I heard from another player that the demo wasn't released in Japan. I'm guessing they removed the Caprice Chalet feature and it's just left as boutique decorating now.
Yeah it's boutique decorating, they brought back bedroom decorating too, it's just that the furniture shop takes a while to unlock, I got it yesterday after 16 hours of playing!
DeleteAlso, you don't have to unlock hairstyles like before because they just unlock as the days pass
It doesn't seem like you have to unlock colors (!!!) because I always had a lot in the beginning and I never noticed changes
Everything just unlocks with time and I'm so glad it's not like the last game, I hated getting hairstyles
So is it more like style savvy trendsetter, but with more activities involve? Oh and when I was playing the demo it seemed that you can just go to the next day like style savvy trendsetter, but does the dates change.
DeleteAnother thing, no you know what happens when you've reached five full hearts of a costumer.
DeleteIt's basically Trendsetters with more clothing, the Chalet customization for the shop, the hairdresser and make up artist jobs and designs
DeleteThere isn't any sporty style (I play the japanese version, so I have no idea what it's called in the localization)
I still didn't get five full hearts though...
Also there's an in game clock like Trendsetters, the seasons and years pass according to the game time
DeleteEverything is overall more customizable and I still didn't find any glitches (when I played the last game, there was a designing bug that didn't give me any customers for 2 months, so I was forced to reset the game...)
Let's just say this game has basically everything I wished for, including live shows
(I'm a fan of idol anime, and there's this PriPara game made by the same company as Style Savvy I really wanted which is why my ds is japanese)
Hooe this answers your questions!
I'll tell you ASAP about the five hearts
With the hearts, the more you have with a character, the more options you get when messenging them or inviting them to events. It has some information on it in the game's manual, that's where I read about it.
DeleteThe sporty brand is just sporty in the western version and the brand is called Streetflow instead of Upbeat. I can't believe they took a brand out! They did this in the last one when they took out Miss Ribbon which was the glam/gyaru style brand.
I hated the in-game clock system in the other game, hopefully I can get used to it in this new one. And thank heavens everything just unlocks now! It was kinda a pain having to work out where everything was. It will mean less guides to make, but at least the game's easier.
I wish we got all those cool 3DS games in the west. Japan gets so many amazing games but they're region locked. I would like to get a japanese 3DS one day to play them, but it's low on my wishlist after all the jpop and kpop albums I buy from overseas.
What did you mean by events, do you mean the shows?
DeleteI'm not 100% sure as this is only going off what I read in the manual. But I don't think it means shows, I think it means social events maybe.
DeleteYeah I believe it was social events
DeleteThat reminds me, you can't visit some locations unless you're invited just like the earlier games
I always never visited them after a while because I was lazy/didn't have the time haha.
DeleteI often visited the locations only to get colors XD Also should I say that there aren't interior styles? Which means you'll get all kinds of customers no matter the style
Delete...or at least that's what happened to me
Do we get more space in our stockroom or is it still only 1000?
DeleteI hope the game gives you a bigger selection of customers. I always get ones wanted girly or maybe a simiular brand. Never ones like basic, eastern or psychedelic unless I used them at the fashion show. I remember Style Boutique being like that as well, it was always people wanting tops or skirts.
DeleteThere's a lot more of space in the stockroom! Currently I can buy 3000 more items sooooooooo
DeleteYou gradually unlock more space though
About the selection... ehhh, it's actually mostly always the same people (in my game at least) who always visit my shop (however I'm barely paying attention to the shop, since I'm focusing on the storyline)
I remember unlocking more space in Style Boutique but once you hit the money cap it was kinda pointless and I had to just sell everything and brought all new stuff for fun.
DeleteUgh I hope there is a varied customer based, it's get boring seeing the game customers asking for the same fashion. Yes, I've seen a bit of the story line from Japanese players I follow on Instagram. It is very focused on the whole pop star thing from what I've seen.
I'm so glad the cap is higher, I hated it in the last game XD So many things I wanted to buy...
DeleteThere are certainly more customers than before even though I'm not in the shop a lot
The story is very cute and yes, it's focused on the idol / pop star thing
The gothic songs are amazing-
At least they finally put the cap up, it's always been so low in previous games. And I could never sell the more unique brands like Kanokoi because customers only ever really wanted the main ones like girly, lively and bold.
DeleteI have a question about the idols. In the demo you could make Rosie sing a girly song or a rock one depending on the outfit you picked for her. My question is, are there "paths" in these choices that become inaccessible once you pick a certain song? Like, if you chose rock, you'd have to stick with rock or its related songs and would lose access to songs in the girly path?
DeleteSorry for the long-winded question, but I'm a gothic/baby doll fanatic and want to get those songs ASAP when the full game drops!
~Iriye
I don't know the exact answer to this as I haven't played the game yet, but I've seen Japanese players saying something about you can re-play the storyline to unlock the songs you missed out on during your first playthrough.
DeleteReally? That's awesome if you can replay the main story! I'm assuming it works like an NG+. If that's true then it solves the problem of having only one save slot.
DeleteI like to record the music from the games, but I couldn't get all the songs I wanted from Fashion Forward because it would mean starting over from scratch. I'm glad Styling Star fixes this problem. Gaaah I can't wait till December!
-Iriye
I'm not 100% sure about it, but that's just what I've heard. I think it gives you the option to replay the story and you don't lose your items or progress of things you've unlocked.
DeleteI've never been too into music from games. The only game soundtracks I've really enjoyed have been Bully and Katamari Damacy. I mainly listen to J-Pop and K-Pop so hopefully the game music will be like that. I did see Avex mentioned in the Japanese trailer so hopefully the music will be reminiscent of their artists like FAKY and E-girls.
Ahhh, Katamari. Good times!
DeleteI'm curious about how the idol songs sound in the original Japanese. The English versions so far are okay, I was just expecting the singer to have a higher-pitched voice. She also sounded more subdued compared to the vocalist for the opening movie.
Sorry if this is off-topic, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but who are your top J/K-pop artists?
-Iriye
I've heard people wondering what the english versions will be like. I honestly haven't had any of the songs so I have no clue about them.
DeleteMy top j-pop artists are E-girls and Dream Ami. I also love KARA's and After School's Japanese releases which I'm currently trying to collect for my collection. With k-pop, I'm only into girl groups and will listen to most songs released by any group. Most of my top fave groups are either disbanded or not active. My top groups would be Orange Caramel, Crayon Pop, CocoSori and Hong Kin Young. But I do enjoy groups like Red Velvet, Twice, WJSN and whatever else I like the sound of. I often blog about jpop/kpop on my personal blog which is listed in my blogger profile :)
Here are the japanese versions of the two songs in the demo if you want to hear them:

SlyBlue: Thanks for the links!
DeleteMarzipanini: Do you know Flower? They're a part of E-girls. I'm not really into girl groups but Flower performed the ending song for an anime I've been following. The song was beautiful, so I checked out their other albums and I have to say I like their music. It's nice to play their songs in the background while I'm working on more cheerful drawings.
They also did a cover of Secret Base by my all-time favourite group ZONE (woefully disbanded) and I was surprised at how similar they sound.
I'll need to check out those songs soon! Sorry for the late reply, I have been away with no internet for a week and couldn't reply to comments
Delete@Skyblue - Yes, I do know Flower but I haven't got around to listening to their discography yet. I'll definitely need to check it out.
I'm the one talking about Flower, haha! Anyway, they have some songs with a heavier Japanese ethnic sound to them, which I like.
DeleteSo, it's past Nov 24 already. Have you gotten the game yet? I hope to see some updates/feedback from you soon, I'm eager to know how it measures up against its predecessors. I'll be stuck here playing Fashion Forward for another month, lol.
Yes I do have the game, I just worked all weekend so I didn't have time to update my blog or play the game much. I've already clocked 6 hours in it haha. I will be posting a guide hopefully in the next few days. It's just been a bit hectic for me lately as I was in the outback with no internet for a week then had to work all weekend so not much time for blogging. But hopefully soon! I've been enjoying the game, it seems more like trendsetters than fashion forward.
DeleteWell there's the answer to my question. I'm super excited though
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited as well! Just a few weeks till it comes out in Australia :)
DeleteI’m so excited for this instalment, I’ve only played style boutique 2 and I absolutely love it, I’m just about to preorder style boutique 3
ReplyDeleteMe too! I pre-ordered my copy yesterday! This new game is quite different from Style Boutique 2 as it takes after Style Boutique (the first one on the 3DS) with a lot of it's features.
DeleteWhen did you started to play style boutique games and how you got them
ReplyDeleteI've been playing since the original one came out on the DS. I discovered the game through downloading a demo off the Wii (back when you could do that). I get the physical version of the game as I'm not too into digital versions as the eshop is quite expensive here and I like the cases. I have to preorder the game as it's rare to see it in stores, even video game ones.
DeleteHow old were you when you the first one
DeleteI don't remember sorry, it was a long time ago. I've been playing since the series started.
DeleteHow old are you
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer to not discuss my age thank you :) But no matter what age I am, I still enjoy playing Style Boutique
DeleteSame thing just want all us to be sate
DeleteI mean safe
DeleteThis is such a fantastic surprise! I wasn't anticipating a 3rd Style Savvy game for 3DS and yet here it is only a year and some months after the last one :-D I love the new art direction for this one and I'm excited that manga artist Lily Hoshino is the character designer! I am happy that we can style men again although it will be interesting to see how having a separate store for them will play out. I liked the mixing of female and male customers in Trendsetters so that if you got tired of styling one gender, you could style the other. I don't mind that it is playable only in 2D b/c the 3D in Fashion Forward jagged the images and hurt my eyes faster than in other games. I'll be looking forward to your guide for the new game! I've got it bookmarked already :-)
ReplyDeleteYes I wasn't anticipating a new game in the series for at least another year. I've never been too interested in dressing the male characters. I had an issue with Style Boutique that only gave me male customers and I had to stop playing because I couldn't do anything else (luckily the next one was about to come out). I'm also just more interested in women's fashion myself than men's fashion.
DeleteI've never used the 3D in the game, 3D hurts my eyes sometimes. I think the only time I've used 3D on my 3DS was for Scribblenauts once to complete a mission.
Thank you for visiting and bookmarking! Hoping to get some guides up soon after the game is released. I'd like to enjoy playing the game for a bit first because it's always fun to take time out to a new game.
Same here: I was getting a lot of male customers in Trendsetters which was surprising and annoying. I like a balance of one or two males just to be there when I need to break up the monotony. I thought it was b/c my assistant was male so I changed to a female assistant and a new interior and have been seeing more female customers, thank goodness.
DeleteHopefully the new one has a good balance as well. In the old game, I just always forgot to buy men's clothing items as well so I never had anything to sell haha.
DeleteAre you getting the europe one next week thursday or her you waiting untill the english version comes out.
ReplyDeleteI get the Australian version which is the PAL region one as that's the one available where I live.
DeleteSo does that mean you're going to be starting the guide early or her you going to wait until christmas.
DeleteThe Australian on week comes out in a week, so early. The Christmas release date is the American one which is a different region to me.
Delete
