Beautician

The Beautician has returned once again to the Style Boutique games and has had bit of a makeover. In New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star, the Beautician allows players to purchase make-up products and make-overs, get a new set of nails or help customers pick out new look. The Beautician is managed by Lorelei and will open during the main story line of the game.

In Styling Star, you no longer have to unlock colours or locate make-up sets. All the make-up items and sets will unlock automatically as you progress through the main story line. The Make-Up Lab has been removed from the game and you can no longer design your own make-up sets. You cannot sell make-up sets either or change the look of the Beautician.

At the Beautician, characters will appear on the bottom 3DS screen. If you talk to a customer, they will request you assist them with picking out new make-up or giving them a new set of nails. If you talk to Lorelei, three options will appear: Buy Make-Up, Surprise Me & Nails. We will now go into more detail about each option she offers:

Buy Make-Up
Here is where you can buy new make-up items and make-up sets. There is a variety of items available which include: Make-Up Sets, Eyebrows, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, Mascara, Coloured Contacts, Blusher and Lipstick. A preview is shown of the colour of each item on the top screen when selected and you can add multiple items to your cart to purchase. Once you have purchased a make-up item, it will be available at your Apartment. The colour palette system is different to the one in Fashion Forward and has a swatch style look to it. The colour palettes are shown on the left hand side of the bottom 3DS screen and are organised in a way similar to make-up palettes in real life rather than the colour system in Fashion Forward. For more information on make-up sets in Styling Star, please visit the Make-Up Sets Guide.

Surprise Me
Select this option to receive a make-over from Lorelei. Each make-over costs $75 and will result in a look similar to the style chosen. The surprise make-overs are similar to ones offered by Arabella in Fashion Forward, but the selection has been shrunk down to three options from five. Lorelei will present you with three make-over style options:
  • Cute - Charming & Sweet
  • Cool - Elegant & Fierce
  • Bright - Dazzling & Zesty

Nails
This is an exciting new feature to the Beautician which allow players to paint their nails in a variety of designs matching the fashion images in the game. Talk to Lorelei to purchase a new set of nails and the categories for each nail design will appear along the top of the bottom 3DS screen. Once you find a nail design that you like, select OK and a short animation will play of Lorelei doing your nails. Your character will then show off the completed look. Any nails sets you buy from the Beautician are available in the Nails option at your apartment. You can only purchase one design at a time, so you will need to talk to Lorelei again to purchase another design. For more information on nails in Styling Star, please visit the Nails Guide.

Nail selection screen at the Beautician

At the Beautician, you can assist customers in choosing new make-up items or nails. You can even give them an entire make-over. Customers will appear at the Beautician or you can message characters to visit you at the Beautician if you have enough hearts with them on their contact card. Select a customer via the bottom 3DS screen and they will briefly tell you what kind of look they are after and whether they want make-up or nails. This guide will look at make-up requests and please refer to the Nails Guide for how to complete nail requests.

The process for selecting make-up for a customer is quite simple. They will either inform you that they want an entirely new look or a specific item such as mascara or lipstick. To choose make-up for the customer, select an item from each available section (items the customer does not want will be blacked out and cannot be selected). Once you are happy with the make-up, select OK to show the final look to the customer.

The customer will proceed to show off their new look! Most of the time, the customer will be pleased with the outcome. Styling Star got rid off the ridiculous request system that Fashion Forward had at the Beautician where customers would request wanting to look just like certain NPC's or particular styles like natural or bold. I'm yet to encounter a customer who hated and rejected their make-over, the game seems to just accept anything as long as you pick different colours to what they already have for the customer.

And that's all for customer requests at the Beautician! The customer will then thank you for your service and a short animation will play. A cute animation will play of your character and Lorelei saying goodbye to the customer at the end of the transaction.

  1. Wow, I always thaught that working at the beautician didn't give you money, is it the same with the hair salon?

    1. Yes it's like the Menswear Shop, it just adds to your funds without telling you.

    3. Oh my mistake :( Yes you don't earn funds at the beautician, I feel bad for writing that. I've fixed the guide up now.
