February Poll Results - Favourite Male Character

February is over for now and another poll has come to a close! The question for February was 'Who is your favourite male character in Style Boutique 3?'

So the results are in on who the players love out of the male characters in Style Boutique 3. The results are:
1st = Ethan
2nd = Johann
3rd = Xiaobai & Fortman
4th = Melvin
5th = Tim
6th = Michel
7th = Florian
8th = Oliver
9th = Jim
10th = Vincent
11th = Mike
No Votes = Tamwar, Richard & Galliard

Wasn't sure how this month's poll results would come out as I've seen lots of different opinions online about which male characters players often rave on about. Surprisingly, Johann and Ethan were tied for first but Ethan took the lead in the last 16 hours of the poll! Now I knew Ethan would rank high but I didn't know Johann was that popular! Xiaobai and Fortman tied for second which I thought Fortman was popular but I'm glad Xiaobai ranked high as he is my favourite. All the other male characters followed behind with a few votes and I thought Florian honestly would've gotten more votes. He seems quite popular amongst players along with Melvin.

Here are your poll winners - Ethan & Johann!

The new poll for March is 'What removed feature do you miss the most?' So this means what feature that was in Fashion Forward but was removed in Styling Star do you miss having in the game. To vote, simply scroll down the side bar and the poll is under the game box images. If you cannot view the poll, please visit the blog using the web version. The blog is not available in mobile view on some devices. If you are on a mobile, select 'View web version' at the bottom of the page.

There will be some new guides posted in March so stay tuned for those. I am also doing a 30 Day Outfit Challenge in Styling Star over on my personal blog, so head over to Marzipan Wonderland if you would like to see the outfits I come up with. I post a lot of play journals for Styling Star and Shopdo updates as well if you are interested in reading those.

Amiibo - Splatoon

Style Boutique 3 has amiibo compatibility and unlocks special designs for your character to wear. In this game, amiibos unlock emblems and design items that are unique to the amiibo character. Certain amiibo figures unlock certain content and this guide will look at the content unlocked with the Splatoon amiibo.

This T-shirt design unlocks with any Splatoon Amiibo.

To scan an amiibo into the game, open the phone menu and select the amiibo app. Make sure that you have the internet/online switched on. You will need either a New Nintendo 3DS/2DS with the built in NFC reader or a separate NFC Reader from Nintendo. Turn the NFC reader on if you are using the stand-alone one. Place the amiibo on the 3DS or NFC reader and the game will ask to scan it in. Once you have successfully scanned the amiibo into the game, you can either close the amiibo app or scan in more amiibos. Go to your apartment and select the Design option to access the content unlocked by the amiibo.

The Splatoon amiibo unlocks a special Splatoon themed emblem and two Splatoon themed t-shirt designs. The emblem features a design of a squid from the game. You can add these emblem to various design items or to shopping bags.

The Splatoon t-shirt features two unique designs. Select the T-shirt option from the design menu and you will see the base Splatoon t-shirt. Select this and the two options for the t-shirt design will appear. The amiibo unlocks the Splatoon Plain and Splatoon Ink designs which are themed around ink splats. You can recolour the t-shirt and emblem designs to any colour using the design feature.

Differences Between Style Boutique 2 & Style Boutique 3

There has been a huge amount of changes made to the features and game play in Style Boutique 3: Styling Star (Style Savvy 4). A number of features and game play elements from the previous game have been altered and old features from New Style Boutique (also known as Trendsetters) have been reintroduced in the new game. This guide will look out how features and game play elements have changed between Fashion Forward and Styling Star and which features from Trendsetters have been reintroduced

Designing - This feature has moved from the boutique to the apartment. The number of items you can design has been cut down with items such as tights and the special items like school uniforms have been removed. Stage Costumes are a new item that you can design. The number of patterns and motifs you can use whilst designing have been reduced slightly as well.

Shopping Bags & Logo - You can now create a unique logo and shopping bag to use at your shop. These can be accessed via the Design menu but only a few designs can be stored at a time.

You can now design shopping bags to use at the boutique.

Design Portfolio - The space to store designs has increased in Styling Star and there are now two sections: one for your own designs and one for designs you have downloaded via the Design Centre.

Apartment - The option to decorate your apartment has returned in the new game. You can purchase furniture and miniatures to decorate your apartment with from various shops in the city. You can change items such as the bed, wallpaper and flooring. Some items are required and you cannot remove them, for example table and chairs set.

Redecorate the interior of your apartment.

Hair Salon Requests - You no longer need to answer questions and guess a customers style in Styling Star. The questions still appear occasionally but they are much more simplified and customers are more relaxed with their requests for hair styles.

Hairstyles - New styles and fringes have been added to the game and some hairstyles have been removed. The up-do category has disappeared and the styles from there have been moved into the three basic categories of short, medium or long. Hairstyles now unlock automatically as you progress through the main story line and you no longer need to unlock them.

Make-up Sets - These do not need to be located and unlocked in Styling Star. Make-up sets will become available at the Beautician whilst you play through the main story line. The style of make-up sets have returned to the ones like in Trendsetters with a similar design look. You can no longer design your own make-up sets like you could at the Make-Up Lab in Fashion Forward. The method for selling make-up sets to customers has changed and you can just pick them now in the make-up menu.

Make-Up Menu Layout - Make-up items are now displayed by color palettes according to the shades at the Beautician and Apartment. You need to purchase each shade in each make-up item category individually now (you can buy lots of shades at once) from the Beautician and the items range in price.

Nails - A new feature to the game that allows you to paint your own nails or the nails of customers. There is a range of styles available and a guide on Nails can be found here.

Colours - The frustrating and time consuming task of unlocking colours has been removed in the new game which delighted many players. Colours now become available at the Beautician and Hair Salon whilst you play through the main story line. Rainbow is no longer a character in the game.

Streetflow - Where Has It Gone?

In the previous Style Boutique game, there was a sporty themed brand called Streetflow that featured active wear and sport themed clothing items. Unfortunately this brand has been removed in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star and the sporty style/theme has been removed completely. The developers of the game did a similar thing in New Style Boutique 2 when they removed the glam themed brand Miss Ribbon. For more information on the brand, please visit the Streetflow Guide from the New Style Boutique 2 Guide.

The clothing items from Streetflow have been moved to other brands within the game and can be found at these brands throughout the year. The brands that now feature items from the now defunct Streetflow brand include:
  • April Bonbon
  • Basic U
  • AZ-USA
  • Retrobeat
  • Brooke Bridge

The majority of Streetflow items have been moved to April Bonbon as this is the brand that best matches the style and design of Streetflow in the game. Some items match the brand perfectly whilst others can look out of place occasionally. Here are some examples of Streetflow items that can now be found at April Bonbon.
